Yo DJ Request (“we”, “us”, or the “Service”) is a real-time song request platform for DJs and their audiences, available at yodjrequest.com. This policy explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, and the choices you have.
Information we collect
We collect only what the Service needs to work:
- Waitlist email — the email address you provide when joining the early-access waitlist.
- Account information — if you create a DJ or admin account: your email address and a password (stored in hashed form by our authentication provider, Supabase).
- Audience information— if a DJ enables audience capture for an event: the name and email address you enter to join that event’s request feed. This information is shared with the DJ hosting the event.
- Song requests and upvotes — the request text you submit (song, artist, and any note) and your upvotes. Requests are delivered in real time and are visible to the DJ and other attendees of the event.
- Usage data — aggregated, anonymized page analytics via Vercel Analytics. This is cookieless and does not track you across sites.
- Device storage— functional state stored in your browser’s localStorage (for example, which requests you have upvoted at an event). See our Cookie & Tracking Notice for details.
How we use your information
- To operate the Service: deliver requests, show event feeds, and maintain DJ accounts.
- To notify you about early access and launch updates if you joined the waitlist.
- To let DJs contact their event audience, where you provided your name and email at an event.
- To send transactional email (account and service messages) via Resend.
- To understand aggregate usage and improve the Service.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for third-party advertising.
Legal basis
Where applicable law requires a legal basis for processing, we rely on: contract (providing the Service you signed up for), consent (waitlist and audience-capture emails), and legitimate interest (service analytics and security).
Third-party processors
We use a small number of service providers to run the platform. Each receives only the data needed to perform its function:

Data retention
- Waitlist emails are kept until launch communication is complete or you ask to be removed.
- Account data is kept while your account is active and deleted on verified request.
- Audience-capture data is retained for the DJ who ran the event; you may request deletion at any time.
- Song requests are ephemeral real-time messages and are not stored as a permanent server-side archive.
International transfers
The Service is operated from the United States and our providers process data primarily in the United States. If you use the Service from outside the US, your information will be transferred to and processed in the US.
Your rights
You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information at any time by emailing ericallenlake@gmail.com. We will respond within a reasonable timeframe. Deletion and export requests are currently handled manually via support.
Children
The Service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the Service evolves (for example, when paid features launch). We will update the “Last updated” date above and, for material changes, provide notice on the site or by email.
